Last week was busy for Alex and his friends. They had many responsibilities at school and at home. On Monday, Alex had to wake up early because he had an important exam. He studied the night before and felt prepared.

After school, Alex had to help his parents clean the house because guests were coming that evening. He finished everything on time. Later in the week, he also had to finish an English project before the deadline.

Not everything happened as planned. On Tuesday, Alex was supposed to meet his best friend after school, but he was very tired and went home instead. On Wednesday, his friends were supposed to arrive at the cinema at 6 p.m., but they arrived late.

On Friday, Alex was supposed to send an email to his teacher, but he forgot. At the end of the week, he understood the difference: had to talks about past obligations that were completed, while was / were supposed to refers to plans or expectations that did not happen as expected.
