📌 ¿Cuál es la diferencia?

En inglés usamos estos dos tiempos para hablar del presente, pero no significan lo mismo. Cada uno se usa en contextos distintos.

🟢 Present Simple Hábitos · Rutinas · Verdades · Permanente I work every day.
🔵 Present Continuous Ahora mismo · Temporal · Cambiante I am working now.
🟢 1. Present Simple — Hábitos, Rutinas y Hechos
Present Simple sujeto + verbo (+ s/es con he/she/it)

✅ Rutinas o hábitos
I wake up at 7 a.m. → Me despierto a las 7 a.m.
She drinks coffee every morning. → Ella toma café cada mañana.
✅ Hechos generales / verdades
The sun rises in the east. → El sol sale por el este.
Water boils at 100°C. → El agua hierve a 100°C.
✅ Situaciones permanentes
I live in Mexico. → Vivo en México.
He works in a hospital. → Él trabaja en un hospital.

💡 Recuerda Con he / she / it el verbo lleva -s en afirmativa: She plays tennis. — En negativa y pregunta usa doesn't / does y el verbo vuelve a su forma base.

🔵 2. Present Continuous — Acciones en Progreso
Present Continuous sujeto + am/is/are + verbo -ING

She is watching TV.→ Ella está viendo televisión.

I am working from home this week.→ Estoy trabajando desde casa esta semana.

The weather is getting colder.→ El clima se está volviendo más frío.

🟢 Present Simple — hábito
I work every day.→ Trabajo todos los días.
She lives in Madrid.→ Vive en Madrid.
🔵 Present Continuous — ahora/temporal
I am working now.→ Estoy trabajando ahora.
She is living in Madrid this year.→ Está viviendo en Madrid este año.
🚫 4. Stative Verbs — Verbos que NO usan -ING
Stative Verbs describen estados, no acciones
No Present Continuous

Hay verbos que NO se usan normalmente en Present Continuous porque describen estados mentales, emociones o posesión — no acciones en progreso.

📌 5. Caso especial: HAVE
🟢 Posesión → Present Simple
I have a car.→ Tengo un carro.
🔵 Actividad → Present Continuous
I am having lunch.→ Estoy almorzando.
🧩 Resumen Final
Usa Present Simple para hábitos, rutinas y situaciones permanentes.
Usa Present Continuous para acciones que pasan ahora o son temporales.
Los stative verbs (like, know, want…) no usan -ING normalmente.
HAVE: posesión → Simple / actividad → Continuous.
🧠 Quick Tip — La clave está en la frecuencia vs el momento
I work every day. → Simple: hábito / rutina
I am working now. → Continuous: acción en este momento
She lives in Madrid. → Simple: situación permanente
She is living in Madrid this year. → Continuous: situación temporal
I know the answer. → Stative verb: nunca uses "am knowing"
